Crap English Literature

After a challenging day I can't read Anna Karenina. So I go to the American Bookstore to buy a very light novel. Apparently they have a bunch of crap, I don't know where to look. Finally, I pick up the perfect crap book:
"Of all the crap, crap, crappy nights I've ever had in the whole of my crap life" (Prologue)
It seems just perfect! The cover is embarassing ugly, the book DOES not look intellectually stimulating: exactly what I need.

Sleep tight.

  1. If only you had asked! The perfect book that is not, in any way, stimulating and is written as if by a 5-year-old, would be Honeymoon by Amy Jenkins.

A wonderfully, unstimulating and incredibly crap book. I may still have it on my bookshelves - keeping it only to remind me that, if ALL the crtiics say it is crap, it most probably is! :-D

I wouldn't even give it as an example of English writing to students of mine!

    hahhahhahha
that's right Andy, I'll give you a call next time.
    Is A.Jenkins worse than Kinsella?!
At least this book makes me laugh. I've just read the following: "where am I? Bloody Narnia?" so now you have an idea of the level :D :D

  3. Well, the thing about Amy Jenkins was that she wrote a series called "This Life" which was excellant television, so I bought the book on that basis. Obviously writing a television series with clever dialogue does NOT extend to writing a book :-D

When I read the book, I was horrified! A typical few lines would go something like:

    "Oh", he said.
    "Yes", she said.
    "It's not important", he said.
"No, I suppose not", she said.
"Why not get married", he said.

Obviously, this is not exactly how it was but, more or less, it was like this all the way through (or that's what I remember of it).

"Where am I? Bloody Narnia?" sounds much more exciting :-D

I love the typical lines!! Kinsella seems slightly better, I must admit that the book is funny.
